One thing as I do as a designer is try to convey the message without explanation. So if you think it looks like a broken cursor than that's how you see it.

I don't think you got my point either :) In other words A good logo should not have to be explained. We don't add descriptions tagged within the logo for all the viewers? Some things are nice to see later so one can say 'aha' I never saw that like the fedex arrow etc. But to answer your question YES it is a pencil and V.

%228. %22This Identity Design doesn't show people we make toilet seats%22* *Are you suggesting I draw a toilet? You shouldn't always try to say it all with your Identity Design. It is your identifier and should not do the job a of an illustration or storyboard.%22**__Raja Sandhu__

Let me add, if you CAN do it, the logo is more purposeful, otherwise I guess it depends on how well you brand it or how strong it is. I always think of Paul Rand, Saul Bass when I design and how they seemed to accomplish both.

For the record, working with committees is challenging. Either it comes out as a frankenstien design or most likely never will see the day in your folio.
