Hmmm... have to go against the grain again here. This level of simplicity works for corporations but a pencil is a creative device in itself and perhaps the logo should reflect this more. Just a thought.
I love the simplicity, and while I did see the pencil after a few seconds it didn't JUMP at me immediately. Maybe move the lead up just a bit? Looks great.
nice use of negative space! :) A question though%3B is the letter i shorter (lower x-height) than the others? There seems to be some sort of optical illusion...
