I would say this one is more dynamic looking. Looking at them side-by-side, this one seems more memorable and booming. I do like the overall simplicity and symmetry of the other one though. I think it works great either way, but tough decision IMO Alen. Great work!
I'd say...if you really want to emulate the mouse pointer, it needs to have a vertical match on the angle of the left-most line to the pointer as it is in real life. That line is perfectly vertical. Also, to continue on in this manner, if you look real close, you'll see the bottom of the stem of the arrow is slightly rounded. Mouse over the picture, and stare at the pointer closely%3B you'll see where I'm going with this.
Alen, I say stick to your guns. The first one was a lot more more effective, this says arrow (click) first, where as what I found clever about the original was it said Canada first ... click second. Not everything has to be obvious, there must be a hell of a lot of of logos with the pointer in this direction, what you did before was create something that didn't necessarily underestimate the average viewers intelligence, by pointing (excuse the pun) out the obvious.
for one I think your losing way too much maple leaf shape on either design because you have too much break (white space) in design. You need more leaf IMO. In fact I was thinking you could even create a Canadian Leaf and either just have subtle cursor / arrow shape with white outline or use a two tone arrow/cursor shape within a Canadian Maple leaf with no line breaks. I'm just looking at this as a shape not RED. and to me it is not quite there yet. Like I said take it or Leaf it.
Neil, thanks a lot, I couldn't describe this concept better myself! Exactly what I wanted to achieve here, thanks for supporting that idea.*Anthony, thank you as well.*Mike, 'take it or leaf it' shows only sarcasm and aggression from your side, really has nothing to do with me. Still confused by your stand especially when you know how much I respect you and your design empire. *
Alen, no it was meant as a fun pun not aggression :) Look all I was doing was just offering a suggestion and that's it and it was my opinion that's all. I would not have even mad any comment at all if I did not like the idea you have here. having seen it here and the original, I guess you had taken the right direction in the first place and does not have to be exactly as a cursor is. Please don't take it as a personal thing.
I like this angled one better, however i also do agree with Mike on revealing a tad more of the leaf. The mark as it is looks interesting to me but Mikes suggestion could be tried without making it too obviously Canada.
I think you need to refer to the maple leaf detail outline and work from there. The detail is missing in the top section of your logo. Nice idea, but not complete.
Lets Discuss
Done...
Replyi somehow miss the details on the upper part of the leaf. on both variations.
Replygoing in a good way
ReplyThat was the point Andrei, it is a fusion of cursor and maple leaf.

Reply%5EI have a banana for my pointer, so I'm gonna sit this one out.
Replyi think this one makes the most sense - not to say other one wouldn't work as well. All in all- great mark :)
ReplyUpdated it again, thank you all peeps!

ReplyDB, I want Canada to be obvious here. Thanks!
Replyby %22too obvious%22, I meant too literal, I thought u'd understand. Beautiful mark though!
