I do agree with you there on the 1st point ClimaxDesigns. I'm not sure either how to fix it, not sure if I will as the client has already approved it and loves it. I think if we took the text out of the shield if would seem pointless to leave the icon confined within the shield, at least currently the shield holds everything together nicely.
