interesting. a few suggestions: seeds are too active. and maybe you can make those buildings stand out of the bitten area...

I'd be concerned about how much detail you'll lose when the mark is scaled down. I think kugelis' idea of having the buildings be formed from the negative space of a bite mark has promise.

Don't know who copied who, but this design was won back in may... obviously someone did it first
